We labeled the political map of Latin America and listened to the song :):):)

We reviewed the map and discussed the song and how to make it work the best, now you can listen to it at home!!!

Wednesday, January 28th

We labeled a physical map of Latin America and reviewed for our upcoming Political Map Test :)

HW - current event due on Friday, Political Map test will now be on Monday :)  You can practice some of the countries on Sheppards Software....

We played on Sheppards Software, played song, kids sang the song on their own!!!!!  They are going to do soooo well on Monday :):)

We turned in our current events and reviewed f that will be on Monday.

We took our Canada test :)  The kids will be getting their results back tomorrow :)  We all ate lunch in our classrooms and watched the swearing in portion of the Inauguration and Obama's first speech as President.

HW - none :):):)  Happy Inauguration Day :)

Super Star Chance

We all watched Barack Obama's first speech as our new President of the United States.  Write a paragraph summarizing your favorite message with in his speech and why it was your favorite.

Wednesday, January 21st

We discussed Cultural Extravaganza and then in some classes read a magazine with different articles relating to Canada.  Today the kids took a mock writing test in the morning which made some classes much shorter than others.

HW - none :)  Look for updated grades by tomorrow afternoon :)

We took a post tet over part of Europe and Canada and pre tested part of our Latin America content :)

Friday, January 23rd

We started learning the Latin America Country and Capital song :):):)

We reviewed Canada's government and began learning about its economy.

We worked on completing Ch. 5 section 3 assessment.  We watched a video stream about Canada's economy.

HW - complete section assessment and be prepared for a quiz over ch. 5 sect. 2 and 3

Wednesday, January 14th

We took section 2 and 3 quiz and discussed the secion 3 assessment.  We read and complete the section assessment for the final section over Canada and its multicultural society.

HW - complete assessment to be prepared for the mini quiz :)

Thursday, January 15th

We took our mini quiz over section 4.  We worked on our study guide :)

HW - Have completed study guide ready tomorrow!!!!  We will review the answers, then play a review game!!!  Only kiddos with completed study guides will get to play the review game, others will do the Ch. review in the text book, so COMPLETE YOUR STUDY GUIDES!!!  If you need an extra copy, here you go :) Download Canada Test Study Guide

January 6th-10th

Welcome back :)  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break :)  We had a great first day back!!!  We have decided to make a change in the our behavior management plan that will offer many positive benefits to each of our Awtrey students!!!  Each student received an informational letter with a signature page attached.  Please read over and sign as soon as possible.  Email me if you have any questions concerning the new plan :)  Attached is the letter in case one didn't make it home :)   Download Conduct letter w-o movie permission

Tuesday, January 6th

We started to explore a new part of the world today, Canada.  Students received a physical and political map of Canada to begin labeling.

There will be a quiz over the Physical map on Friday :)

Wednseday, January 7th

We reviewed both sides of our map.  We then read Ch. 5 section 1 and started the assessment. 

HW - Complete the assessment for practice for your 5 question quiz over this section tomorrow.  There will be a physical features quiz on Friday.

Thursday, January 8th

We took a quiz over Ch. 5 section 1 and then reviewed the answers to their section assessment.  We the watched a video stream about Canada's history and people and took 10 main idea video notes.

Friday, January 9th

We took our Physical features quiz and then began reading Ch. 5 section 2.

HW - complete ch. 5 section 2 assessment, there will be a quiz over section 2 and 3 on Wednesday in case students would like to start preparing.  This is a change from what most classes had on the board so please let your kiddos know...
