September 29th- Oct. 3rd

Monday, September 29th

We reviewed our vocab from Ch. 12 section 1 and reviewed the answers to their guided reading.  We then read Ch. 12 section 2 and completed that side of the guided reading, except the Soviet Union boxes - those we will fill in another time.

HW - complete the Ch. 12 section 2 side of their guided reading they received on Friday.  There will be a vocab quiz on Thursday over all of their vocab words for this chapter.   Download history_of_europe_vocabulary.doc

Tuesday, September 30th

We reviewed Ch. 12 section 2, vocab and guided reading.  We then created a graphic organizer for the info pertaining to the World War's in section 2.

HW - complete the graphic organizer  - QUIZ  over vocab THURSDAY!!! STUDY!!!!!  Don't forget the super star chance!!! See blog from last week for more info, or the board in our classroom :)

Wednesday, October 1st

We reviewed our World War's graphic organizer and began to read Ch. 12 section 3

HW - Complete #'s 1 and 2 of the section assessment for Ch. 12 section 3 - QUIZ ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!  THE VOCAB QUIZ IS POSTPONED UNTIL FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3rd :):):) 

Thursday, October 2nd

We completed Ch. 12 section 3 assessments and used flash cards to study for our vocab quiz tomorrow.

September 22st-26th

Monday, September 22nd

We continued working on our time line projects.  We will work on them all of class tomorrow and most of Wednesdays class.  They will be due at the beginning of class on Thursday.

HW - If you would like to print off pics for your project and or type anything up for it, you can do so at home.  This is NOT a requirement.  All information is in the class and you can illustrate your drawings.

Tuesday, September 23rd

We worked on our projects, we will have one more day in class.

Wednesday, September 24th

We worked on our projects in class.  Kids who got finished had the chance to complete their current events with newspapers I had in the classroom.

Thursday, September 25th

We started on our vocab for Ch. 12.  There are 2 super star chances with the vocab... If the students write a sentence including themselves, the word and the words meaning for all 12 vocab words, they earn 1 super star.  The 2nd chance is to use all 12 vocab words in a story.  The story can be completely fictional, but the meaning of the words has to be accurate.  The super star chances can be turned in anytime before the test over this chapter, which right now will be Tuesday, October 7th.

We completed our journal 3-2-1's.  We then read ch. 12 section 1 and completed a guided reading.

HW - Their vocab sheets and the European Empires side only of their guided reading needs to be complete

September 15th-19th

Monday, September 15th

We began learning about the European colonization of various parts of the world.  We color coded a map.

Tuesday, September 16th

We finished color coding our maps and on the back made a chart of which continents the 5 European countries colonized parts of.

Wednesday, September 17th

Today is Constitution Day :)  We watched a video stream that broke down the Constitution and took a quiz as we watched the video.

Thursday, September 18th

We watched a video stream about European exploration and colonization.  The kids had a guided sheet to complete during the video.  We then reviewed the answers.

Friday, September 19th

We started our Age of European Discover Time Line in class project today.  We will have Monday and Tuesday for sure in class and if kids are working hard and more time is needed, more will be given :)

HW - Students may get extra info and/or pics off of the internet to include on their time lines, but this is optional and all the info they need is provided for them in the classroom

September 8th-12th

Monday, September 8th

We worked on Ch. 10 section 1 assessment on pg. 277.   Tomorrow we will have a quiz over this section.  If the students can answer all the questions on the section assessment, they will be successful on the quiz :)

We reviewed their section assessments.  We then took a quiz.

Wednesday, September 10th

We read pgs 307-311 about some important European explorers and completed a chart.

HW - finish the explorers chart if not finished in class :)

Thursday, September 11th

We briefly discussed September 11th.  We then reviewed our explorers sheets and used them to make Tiny Poof Books :)

Friday, September 12th

We will journal 3-2-1.  We will then complete our European Explorers Tiny Poof Books :)

HW - finish poof book if not done in class and enjoy your weekend :)

Pick one of the European explorers we have been studying and do a little research on him.  Write a minimum of a 5 sentence paragraph in your own words about what you learn and include your source :)

We had classroom guidance today and the kids were introduced to Mrs. Zell, our school councilor and Mrs. Soloman, our schools social worker.

We completed our Journal 3 - 2- 1.  We turned in our key term blocks and mock current events.  We read Ch. 10 Section 1.
