February 25th-29th

Monday, February 25th

We reviewd Ch. 9 section 1 and then started Ch. 9 section 2 info on the Cultures and Economies of South America.  We worked on the gimme 5 activity. Students were to take each red headed section and write 5 main idea facts IN THEIR OWN WORDS.

HW - complete gimme 5 activity, current event due Friday

Tuesday, February 27th

We reviewed the gimme 5 activity then took an open book/notes quiz over Ch. 9 sections 1-2.

HW - current event is due on Friday

Wednesday, February 28th

We watched a video stream about Eva Peron.  They were to take notes on her life because tomorrow they will be completing their 9 weeks writing assessment on her.

Thursday, February 28th

We completed our 9 weeks writing assessment today.  The students wrote "autobiographies" on the life of Eva Peron.

Friday, February 29th

We reviewed Eva Peron.  We then began to learn about the Guerilla movements in Latin America.  Today we started with the Shining Path out of Peru.

ATTENTION PARENTS!!!!  Hopefully this will not pertain to your child, however DEFICIENCIES went home today!!!  If your child receives one, it needs to be signed and returned asap.

February 20th-22nd

Wednesday, February 20th

Students had one more day to work on their projects!!!  Having 4 days in class and a 4 day weekend, the students were made aware of my extra high expectations of GREAT projects!!!  Please ask your kiddos tonight about what kind of project they will be turning in tomorrow :) 

HW - projects due tomorrow...  I will be here at 8:15 tomorrow if anyone needs a few minutes to put on any final touches :)

Complete a current event on the current Fidel Castro situation, what is going on over there and what are your thoughts???   Due by Monday for Super Star

Thursday, February 22nd

The students took the first half of class to "grade" each others projects.  They then took a quiz over some of the material they were to have covered in this project.

Friday, February 23rd

We are going to introduce South America with a 5 minute virtual tour of the region.   We will then learn about the independance of many South American countries through Ch. 9 section 1.

Current event announcement

This months current event will be due Friday, February 29th.  Students can turn this in early.  PLEASE REMEMBER KIDDOS TO WRITE THE WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and WHY in your own words and in COMPLETE SENTENCES!!!!!!

February 11th-15th

Monday, February 11th

We read Ch. 8 section 4 over Guatemala.  We completed review questions 2-4.

HW - we will have a quiz over Ch. 8 section 3 and 4 tomorrow.  We will begin a culminating project over Central America and the Caribbean Wednesday.  Each group will need a poster board, not tri fold board :)

Tuesday, February 12th

Students took their quiz, then we discussed their group projects.  We will begin working on them tomorrow.  Students will have 3 days in class to work on them and they will be due Wednesday, February 20th.

We worked on our projects!!!  They are looking so great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are working on our projects :)  Many, NOT ALL, but many are working very hard and seem to really need one more day of in class time.  I have decided to give the kiddos Wednesday in class as well to work on their projects, BUT I let them know that with this extra time, I NEED EXTRA FABULOUS projects :) :) :)

HW - work on any part of the project they can :)  Students will have Wednesday in class, then they will be do the first thing in class :)

We learned about the economies and cultures of Central America and the Caribbean.  Students read Ch. 8 section 2 and completed a Gimme 5 activity

Tuesday, February 5th

We reviewed Central American and Caribbean Cultures and Economies with a power points, while the students took notes on a copy of the power point.

HW - study power point, GIMME 5 notes, and review Ch. 8 section 2 for a quiz tomorrow

Wednesday, February 6th

We took ch. 8 section 2 quiz, then began to work on Ch. 8 section 3 key term blocks.

Thursday, February 7th

We looked at where Cuba was in relation to our school on google earth!!!  This is a really cool place!!!  You can download it for free at http://earth.google.com/We then read about Cuba today in Ch. 8 section 3 and completed a time line guided reading.

We reviewed the Caribbean with an emphasis on Cuba through video streaming.

UPCOMING PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!!

We will be starting a group project over Central America and the Caribbean next Wednesday.  Each group will need a minimum of one big piece of poster board and a good set of markers and or color pencils :):):)
