October 29th - November 2nd

Monday, October 29th

We reviewed our government notes, then took a government quiz.  The students could use their notes on the last 10 minutes of the quiz.  The students then began work on their new key term blocks.

HW - complete key term blocks, current event due on Wednesday, tomorrow during lunch is the retake of the European Country quiz

Tuesday, October 30th

We read Ch. 12 Section 3 pgs. 342-347 and completed a guided reading. 

HW - Complete any part of the 2 sided guided reading not completed in class, current event due tomorrow

Wednesday, October 31st

We reviewed the guided reading from yesterday.  We then moved on to Ch. 13 section 1.  We read and began a guided reading.

HW - Have a HAPPY and SAFE HALLOWEEN :)

Thursday, November 1st

We reviewed Ch. 13 section 1 guided reading.  We labeled a map of Germany and Berlin when they were under control of other countries during the time of the Berlin Wall.  We read Ch. 14 section 4 and began an inferencing worksheet.

Friday, November 2nd

We reviewed their hw.  We then moved on to Eastern Europe and Russia and what is happening with these areas today.  This information is in Ch. 13 section 2.  The students were to read this section and complete a guided reading. On the other side is a fill in the blank they must complete.

HW - finish any part of the w/s from today not completed in class, the fill in the blank will be graded and counts as a quiz grade!  TAKE ADVANTAGE of being able to use your book on this :):):) EASY 100!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Enjoy your extra days off :):):)

Monday, October 22nd

We worked on a FACT or OPINION worksheet about the British government and then read more about this topic, highlighted main ideas and answered questions.

HW - Read a WS on the government of the United Kingdom and answer the questions on the back in complete sentences.

Tuesday, October 23rd

We reviewed their sheet on the government of the United Kingdom.  We read about the government of France and the United States and wrote 3 sentence summaries for each government.

HW - Compare and contrast sheet on the governments of the United Kingdom, France, and the United States

STUDY ON http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/ the map of Europe for a quiz on the 21 countries we labeled on the political map of Europe.  We will take the quiz on Thursday and will review first for the majority of the class period.

Wednesday, October 24th

We reviewed their compare/contrast government sheet.   We then color coded a map of Europe with the government types of several of the countries.

Thursday, October 25th

We took a pre political map quiz and then reviewed with a neat song to help them remember the countries better.  We then took the European Countries map quiz for a grade.

The ones I have graded so far are over all really

October 16, 2007

October 15th-19th

Monday, October 15th

Students began to learn about the causes and effects of World War I and II.  We read about and charted the causes and effects.

HW - Get notebooks organized.  Test on Friday and your notebooks will be due.

Tuesday, October 16th

We finished our chart on the World War's and spent a few minutes on our notebooks and discussing the test. 

HW - Continue getting your notebooks ready for Friday and continue to study for the test.

We reviewed their study guide and played white board trivia for review :)

October 8th-12th

Monday, October 8th

Students completed a guided reading on Ch. 11 Section 3 and then worked on key term blocks.

Tuesday, October 9th

We reviewed Ch. 11 section 3 and began an activity that would put in order important dates during Russia's Imperialism era.

Wednesday, October 10th

We finished the Ch. 11 section 3 activity and reviewed it.  We then began to label a physical map of Europe.  On the back of the map are the 21 Countries to be labeled.

Thursday, October 11th

We turned in our DSS's and took a few minutes to update our notebooks and to check for organization.  We then began the video on Anastasia Dead or Alive.  Students made predictions, then wrote down supporting details and negating details of their prediction.

HW - Key term blocks for Ch. 11 section 4 key terms are due on Monday.

Friday, October 12th

We completed the Anastasia video and wrote our concluding paragraphs.

I was not in the building today.  The students reviewed by reading Ch. 11 section 3 and completing review questions 1-4. They then will preview some info by reading Ch. 11 section 4.

Tuesday, October 2nd

Today we are starting a mini unit on 3 main religions of the world.  We will spend the next day focusing on Judaism, Christianity, and the Islamic faiths and how they impacted Europe.  The students were told today that each component of work will add together over the next few days to equal a test grade.  This is a HUGE chance for all to maintain their positive grades or increase a low grade!!!!

Today we began with a video over Judaism. Kids were required to take down a minimun of 20 facts, numbering each and skipping lines.

They will use these notes from the 3 videos to create a tri venn diagram and if they have each of these notes and the diagram done correctly, they will be able to use this information on their quiz on Friday.

If you were not happy with your key term block quiz grade, you can create your own project using each of the 12 key terms to add points to your quiz grade up to a 100%.  This is on your own and you must be creative and this is due on FRIDAY, October 5th

We watched the video about Christianity.  Students had to take a minumum of 20 main idea notes that will count for 20 points of the Religions Project grade.

Thursday, October 4th

We watched the 3rd and final religion video on the Islamic faith.  They took a minimum of 20 main idea facts to use on their activity Friday.

Friday, October 5th

We created a triple venn diagram of the 3 religions and used our notes on this activity.  We also used our notes to take a quiz.  Each set of notes, the venn diagram, and the quiz each equaled 20 points a piece.
