September 24th-28th

Monday, September 24th

Current events are due Monday so we discussed them briefly.  We then created a "Who am I?" poster about Martin Luther.

HW - work on poster due WED.  Current event due Friday.

Tuesday, September 25th

We completed our 9 weeks writing assessment in class today!  If you were absent, see me when you return for details :)

HW - Your "Who Am I?" poster is due tomorrow!  Current event is due Friday.  Key Term Block POP quiz is Friday!!! 

Wednesday, September 26th

We will begin our two day study of the Scientific Revolution.  We will focus on Galileo and Newton.  The students will create a two tab foldable to hold their research on these two key figures in the Scientific Revolution. Today we will complete the side on Galileo.

HW - Current event due on Friday

Thursday, September 27th

Students finished their two tab foldables about Galileo and Newton.

HW - Current event is due tomorrow.  Key Term Blocks quiz is tomorrow.  IF you have ALL 12 key term blocks completed, you may use them on your quiz.

Students will take their Key Term Block quiz.  We will then watch a short film about the Black Death/plague.

September 17th-21st

Monday, September 17st  HAPPY CONSTITUTION DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

We watched a 20 minute video that summarized what the Constitution is all about in kid friendly lingo :)  We discussed its importance.  We took 10 main idea notes as we watched the video as well.

Tuesday, September 18th

We reviewed how to complete the key term blocks, students will be receiving theirs back tomorrow.  We then started our lesson on the Renaissance by taking a thumbs up/down pre test and then reading pages 301-304 and writing summaries for the paragraphs within these pages.

Wednesday, September 19th

We started a venn diagram on Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci.

HW - Students have to have a minimum of 3 things for each part of the diagram. We will add to it tomorrow with a brain pop over each person. 

Thursday, September 20th

We watched 2 brain pops over Michelangelo and Da Vinci.  We then read the rest of Ch. 11 section 1 and took one sentence summaries over it.

HW - none

Friday, September 21st

We discussed Martin Luther and began our key term blocks 7-12.

The students will complete a study guide for their European Unit 1 test.

HW - Finish study guide and study for test :)

Tuesday, September 11th

Students will receive the answers to the study guide and then will play a mini review game.

HW - Europe Unit 1 test is tomorrow.  Notebooks are due as soon as class begins.  STUDY and you will do GREAT :):):)

PARENTS - I am currently working on updating grades and will also have tests graded and added by no later than Thursday 4pm and progress reports will go out next week so be on the look out for those!!!

Wednesday, September 12th

We took our Europe Unit 1 test today :)

Thursday, September 13th

We discussed their tests briefly.  They will be receiving their tests back tomorrow. 

We discussed notebook cleaning out procedures.  I have asked that students clean out their Social Studies area of their notebooks, but not to throw materials away.  I suggest to them to keep their materials  in a folder in their room.

We learned how to complete a current event.  The first current event is due 9/28.  Students can not start this assignment until 7 days before the due date.  They will have a current event due at the end of each month.

We learned how to complete key term blocks. 

HW - Take the 6th vocab words given to you in class today and complete key term blocks.

Friday, September 14th

Students received their tests back and we went over the grades :)  We then watched a video clip about Michelangelo.

Wednesday, September 5th

We will learn about climate and why Europe's climate is what it is.  We will also review some of the physical features of Europe.  Students will read Ch. 10 section 1 and complete a guided notes sheet.

HW - DSS's will be collected tomorrow.  If the guided notes were not finished in class, the students must complete at home.

TEST ALERT!!!! -  Next Wednesday the students will have their first test!!!!  They were told today what the nature of the test would be like.  We will review next week for the test and the students will be receiving a study guide on Monday.

Thursday, September 6th

We reviewed the guided notes we took yesterday over physical features, climate, and natural resources of Europe.

HW - Complete ch. 10 sect. 1 review questions 1-4 on pg. 277

Friday, September 7th

We learned about the meaning of the word Economy and which geographical features in Europe can cause problems to the development of their economy both past and present. 

HW - Begin studying for their test on next Wed.
