February 26th-March 1st

Monday, February 26th

We reviewed the First Americans and reviewed the CRCT benchmark test.

HW - Ch. 2 section 2 Key term blocks and current event is due Wednesday

Tuesday, February 27th

We reviewed the key term.  We then used sticky notes to out line Ch. 2 section 2, which is a brief history of the US from 1803-1877.

HW - Current event due tomorrow

Wednesday, February 28th

We are taking our outlined section and using it to help build a time line of events.

HW - Ch. 2 section 3 key term blocks.  Chapter 2 test will be Monday.

Thursday,  March 1st

Students will learn about how the US became a world power in Ch. 2 section 3 along with a guided reading.

Friday, March 2nd

We will review the answers to the study guide and then play a review game.

Students will peer edit each others rough drafts.  They will then work on their final copies.  The final copies must be completed in ink pen, written on the front side of each sheet of paper only.

Thursday, February 22nd

Students will take a CRCT benchmark test.  We will then work on a historical map crossword puzzle.

HW - Complete crossword puzzle.  Current event due February 28th.  I have plenty of newspapers in my room for the students if they would like one.

Friday, February 23rd

Today we will trace a path of where all of the "first American's" came from and why they came using a tree map. 

HW - Ch. 2 section 1 key terms and sentences.

February 12th-16th

Monday, February 12th

We reviewed the answers to the study guide.  We then organized our notebooks and began working on an extra credit assignment.

HW - Notebooks are due at the beginning of the class.  Extra credit is to complete section review questions 3-5 in complete sentences for Ch. 1 sect. 1-2.  Ch. 1 test is tomorrow.

Tuesday, February 13th

Students will take Ch. 1 US and Canada test today and then begin Ch. 2 key terms.

Wednesday, February 14th

Students will take a video train ride through Canada learning about the physical features and the culture of Canada.

HW -  Key terms for Ch. 2 Section 1 must be completed by Thursday.

Thursday, February 15th

Students will take a video train ride through the US.   They will be taking the information they have learned the past two days to complete this nine weeks Social Studies writing piece.  We will be working on this paper Friday and Wednesday.

Friday, February 16th

Students will became writers for a travel magazine.  They will choose either Canada or the US to become a passanger on the train and tell about their journeys.  They must include all the stops and what they say on each stop, the cultures of the places they visited.  The rough draft will be completed in class today.

February 5th-9th

Apology - I'm sorry to have neglected my blog this week!  I was out sick and am working hard now to catch up!  I will have all my grades updated on I-Cue by Friday afternoon as well.  Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your patience :)

Monday, February 5th

The students began chapter 1 in the US and Canada book by reading section 1 and completing a guided reading on the land and water of the US and Canada.

Tuesday, February 6th

We reviewed breifly the Land and Water and moved into the climate and vegetation zones of the US and Canada. 

HW - none

Wednesday, February 7th

We learned about the main natural resources of the US and Canada and charted this information on a bubble map.

HW - Complete section review questions 1-5 for Ch. 1 section 3

Thursday, February 8th

I was out on Tuesday and Wednesday, so we spent this class period reviewing all three sections and getting our notebooks organized.

Friday, February 9th

We will be watching a short video stream about the climate zones of the US and Canada.  We will then begin work on a study guide for ch. 1.

HW - Complete the Ch. 1 study guide.  Our chapter 1 test will be on Tuesday.
