January 29, 2007

January 29th-February 2nd

Monday, January 29th

Students will review the cultures of Central America homework.  We will then watch two brief video streams about the cultures of the Caribbean. 

HW - Students will read Ch. 3 section 2 about the cultures of the Caribbean and complete review questions 1-5.  Current event due Wed.

Tuesday, January 30th

Students will review the cultures of the Caribbean homework.  We will then finish up our cultures of Latin America with a video stream about the cultures of South America.

HW - Read Ch. 3 section 3 and complete review questions 1-5.  Have notebook ready for a notebook check.  Current event due tomorrow.

Wednesday, January 31st

We will review the cultures of South America and then take our last tour of culture through Bolivia.

HW - Notebooks are due at the beginning of class.  EXTRA CREDIT - Complete the graphic organizer on page 80 for 10 bonus points on the quizzes tomorrow.  These quizzes will be open book.

Thursday, February 1st

Students completed open book quizzes over the cultures of Latin America. 

HW - None

Friday, February 2nd

We will begin our unit on North America. Students will label a variety of physical features on a map of North America and complete key terms for Ch. 1

January 22nd - 26th

Monday, January 22nd

The students will receive their Ch. 2 test back and we will go over the answers.  We will then begin learning about the governments of Latin America through a reading passage.  We will use highliters to mark the main ideas.

Tuesday, January 23rd

We will continue learning about the governments of Latin America.  Once we have completed the reading, we will answer a variety of questions in complete sentences concerning the governments of Latin America.

Wednesday, January 24th

We reviewed the answers to the homework.  We then began reading primary source accounts of life in Argentina under the strict military dictatorship type government.

HW - DSS due tomorrow. Current event due January 31st

Thursday, January 25th

We will complete the Learning the Truth activity.  We will begin a worksheet about the Liberation Theology and the other side will provide a mini lesson on Evita Peron.

HW - Complete the ws if not done in class.  Current event due next Wed.

Friday, January 26th

Students will view a short video about the cultures of Central America.  They will write 10 important facts about the video.  After the video, we will read ch. 3 sect. 1 and complete the review questions 1-5.

January 16th-19th

Studend took a test over ch. 2.  After the test, students worked on creating Aztec calendars.

Tuesday, January 17th

Students will watch a video over South America.

Thursday, January 18th

Students will begin a lesson on 6 different important historical events from the beginning of the independance of Latin American from Spain and Portugal throught the mid to late 1900's.

Friday, January 19th

We will finish up the Latin American history Gimme 5 plus 1 activity :)

January 8th-12th

Monday, January 8th

Students reviewed the three main native civilizations of Latin America, the Incas, Mayas, and Aztecs.  We completed a worksheet in class and then began the homework.

HW - Complete Chapter 2 section 1-2 take home quizzes

Tuesday, January 9th

Students will grade quizzes in class. We will then read a section about European Conquest of Latin American and complete guided notes.

Wednseday, January 10th

Students complete Ch. 2 Section 4 guided reading while reading about the Independance of Latin America.

HW - Complete guided reading, if not done in class.  Test Tuesday, January 16th so study!!!

Thursday, January 11th

We will review Latin American Independance.  We will then begin work on our study guide. 

HW - Finish study guide :)  Test next Tuesday.

Friday, January 12th

We will go over the study guide and further review for the test.

HW - Drawing conclusions critical thinking ws will be due on Tuesday as will the notebook.  The students will also be taking ch. 2 test on Tuesday as well
