August 28th - September 1st

Monday, August 28th

We will review Latitude and Longitude with a practice worksheet :)

HW - There will be a Geography test on Thursday. Current events are also due on Thursday.

Tuesday, August 29th

We will review map skills and practice these skills.

Wednesday, August 30th

We will define key terms for Geography test.

We will review for Geography test.

HW - Geography test tomorrow, current event due tomorrow :)

Thursday, August 31st

Students will take Geography test.

After the test we will begin to label a map of Western Europe and start to check books out to the students.

HW - None :)

Friday, September 1st

Students discussed the prior knowledge they have about Europe.

We then watched an 18 minute video of an overview of Europe and what we would be learning.

Monday, August 21st

Students will take notes on the 5 themes of Geography as we read Ch. 1 Section 1 in the Geography text books.  These books will not be checked out to students as we are only using them for a maximum of two weeks.  If for any reason you would like your child to have a copy, send me a note and I will check one out to them :)

HW - Start brainstorming ideas for 5 themes paragraph

Tuesday, August 22nd

Students will complete the 5 themes notes and the reading of Ch. 1 Section 1.

HW - Complete the 5 themes work sheet

Wednesday, August 23rd

We will review the 5 themes of Geography

We will then begin our Courageous Journey to Paragraphs using the 5 themes.

HW - Rough draft due tomorrow, also bring in pics of your location for the final copy if you would like to include any :)

Thursday, August 24th

The students peer edited each others rough drafts then were given time to work on their final copies.

HW - Final copy is due tomorrow

Friday, August 25th

The students took guided notes on latitude and longitude and then we learned how to locate latitude and longitude on a map.

HW - none :)

Tuesday

We continued going over classroom procedures and expectations.

Wednesday

The students received their syllabus and an over view of what we are going to learn in this class this year.   The students also learned about how current events work and how to complete their warm ups.

HW - Get the syllabus signed.

Thursday

We played global bingo in class.

Monday, August 14th

Hooray for the first day of school!!!!!

We are off to a great start this school year!  This year in Geography the students and I will be traveling to many fun places!  We will first be taking a tour through Europe and Russia, then we will be off to Latin America!  After a several week stay there, we will be off again to North America!  The last couple weeks of school we will wrap up in Oceania!

Today in class we learned about class expectations and procedures :)

H/W  Students have received a behavior management sheet and a folder with several items to be signed.   Please go over these papers with your student and have them bring the forms filled in and signed as soon as possible :)
