We began research for culture box projects.

We began the movie "The Man from Snowy River."  Kids took notes on culture and physical features to help them with their writing assessment on Wed.  The kids will become reporters for a travel magazine and will write an article to help prepare people for travels to Australia.

Monday, April 14th

We reviewed Ch. 25 section 1.  We then began to read Ch. 25 section 2.  We spent some time at the end of class studying for our map quiz on Wednesday.

Tuesday, April 15th

We completed the review questions 1-4 for Ch. 25 section 2.  We reviewed for our map quiz tomorrow.
Students must be able to label all of the following places in their maps.

Great Barrier Reef, Great Sandy Desert, Great Victoria Desert, Antartica, Coral Sea, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Vanuatu, Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia.

Wednesday, April 16th

We took our quizzes. You can check out Iparent to see what your kiddo made.  If they scored a 70 or below they can take a retake tomorrow at lunch for some additional points up to a potential 75 depending on what their final grade was.  MOST DID FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

We then reviewed for our quiz that will be on Friday over Ch. 25 sections 1 and 2.  The kiddos were given a 2 sided WS to complete helping them make inferences and work with main ideas.

HW - if the WS was not finished, please complete for homework

We started Oceania today.  We labeled a physical and political map of Australia.

HW - make sure your maps are completely labeled.  We will label a map of the remainder of the places and things we need to know about Oceania tomorrow.  On Thursday students will be given a condensed list of the major places and physical features that must be known for their quiz they will have the Wednesday after Spring Break :)

Tuesday, April 1st

The students labeled a map of Oceania.  They then began to read Ch. 25 section 1 and complete review questions 1-4.  If they completed this, they started on key term blocks for the following words...Maori, Aborigine,

Commonwealth of Nations

matrilineal societies, patrilineal societies

HW - FOR THURSDAY - ALL OF THE ABOVE WORK MUST BE COMPLETED!!!
