LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL

Well, we are wraping up the end of yet another year... here is the plan for science.

I will check over all of the planet packets Monday --- first thing.  If the packet is not completed then that student will not be part of "set" and "go". 

Monday and Tuesday - study for test ("GO")

Wed - "Go" ... test on planets

Thurs - Take space post test and start study guide for Final exam

Friday - Final Exam

May 4-8

Monday - Wednesday: Students working in class on constellation project. 

Thursday: Constellation presentations start

Friday: Field DAY!  6-1 wear red ... 6.2 wear orange

Science 4/27-5/1

• Monday 27th - SS CRCT - Students finished up What would Earth be like with Out a Moon? video. 

• Tuesday 28th - Students received their Moon Phase, Seasons, Eclipse test back today - we reviewed concepts that were confusing.  Students who have a 79% or below will have a re-take on Wednesday.

• Wednesday 29th - students re-took the test if earning a 79% or less.  All students had the choice to re-take the test.  Students who did not take the test read chapter 18 section 3 (P. 564-570)

 

• Thursday 30th - Start learning about stars!  Discuss what stars and constellations are.

 

• Friday 1st - Start constellation project.

Monday - Friday: 4/13 - 4/17 (updated 4/15)

Oh my goodness... THANKS so much to everyone who brought in Oreo's!!!!!!!  The lab was a successful learning experience for EVERYONE!!!!!

 

Monday:

• Finish up web quest, notes about seasons, start drawing pictures of the moon phases!

Tuesday and Wednesday:

• moon phase notes
• moon phase oreo lab

Thursday:

• Bill Nye video on seasons for review
• start reviewing for test that will be on Monday! ... test will be on Seasons, moon phases, and eclipses!

Friday:

• Jepordy game reviewing for the test on Monday!  Study... Study... Study!!!

Monday:

• Finished the Hurricane Katrina Video

Tuesday:

• Students took the weather and atmosphere post test - class with the highest average will celebrate on FRIDAY and will be exempt from the quiz

• Students took the astronomy pre test

• Students received their chapter 16 test!  Test corrections due on FRIDAY!  Download Test corrections

• Students completed a questionnaire about the earth, moon, and the sun  - this is so we can straighten out all those misconceptions

Wednesday:

• We will revisit the misconceptions regarding the earth, moon, and sun
• Students will be completing a short seasons group activity - this also addresses misconceptions students have regarding the seasons

Thursday:

• students will be taking notes regarding seasons
• PPT: Download Earth in Space
• Notes: Download Earth In Space cloze notes

Friday:

• 4 stations today   - #1 celebration all class period for those doing well on the post test, #2 finishing up the notes from yesterday (drawing the seasons on the back), #3 post-test review of questions missed, and #4 mini web quest Download Season web questish  
• test corrections due TODAY!!!

Science: 3/23 - 3/27 (Update: 3/25)

Monday 3/23: 

• TTK 16.4 Due... quiz over TTK 16.4 and other vocabulary from Chapter 16
• Students will be working on weather forecasting and completing different activities regarding weather prediction.   Reading a weather map activity!

Tuesday 3/24: 

• Going outside with the psychrometer and measure the relative humidity!  Complete a classwork graded assignment about reading a weather map.

Wednesday 3/25:

• 30 minute video about Tornadoes!
• Chapter 16 Section 1 partner activity to review for the test.  The students were encouraged to try answering the questions first to see how much they knew... then going through the text book to see if they were correct. 
• Students were also given a visual aid/study guide for Section 2

Thursday 3/26:

• Hurricane Katrina Video (Part 1)
• Students can work on the visual aid for Section 2 during the video. 

Friday 3/27:

• Test on Chapter 16 is TODAY!!!!
• Study session led by Mrs. Poole at 8:15... BE THERE!

Science... last week

Sorry the blog has not been updated... the system has been running VERY slow and I have gotten behind...

Students have taken notes covering Chapter 16 - Sections 1-3. 

The test is on Thursday 3/26 over all of chapter 16. 

Science: Mon-Fri 3/9-13/09

Monday:  Students went outside and saw exactly how long a kilometer is! 

Tuesday:  TTK Quiz over 16.1 and We started taking notes on Water in the Air - 16.1

Wednesday:  Continued taking notes on 16.1

Thursday:  Finish notes on 16.1 and create a huge poster about clouds ... Come to Academic night and see all that we have done all year!!!  C-ya at 6:30!

Friday:  Finish the poster about clouds and take TTK Quiz covering 16.2 and 16.3!  TTK HW is due today!!!  Students have known about this since Tuesday!

Science: Wed-Fri 3/4-6/09

Wednesday:

    Students received and worked the entire period on the study guide for the test that will be on Friday!

Thursday:

    Students played a review game covering information that will be on the test tomorrow!   Study session at 8:15am tomorrow!

Friday:

    Test covering the first 3 sections on chapter 15!
