Science update

As a reminder, open house is on Tuesday, 8/29, at 6:30.  We'll look forward to seeing you!  Here's what is going on in science this week: 

Monday:
1.  Volume Lab
Homework: Volume worksheet

Tuesday:
1.  Observation Notes
2.  Class activity: observing a peppermint

Wednesday:
1. Inference Notes
2. Classwork: Make 10 observations and inferences from the sciece classroom.

Thursday:
1. Scientific Method Introduction: Inquiry Activity
2. Note taking on the scientific method from the science text.

Friday:
1. Review Scientific Method Notes

Welcome Back!

We have had a great start to the new school year!  On Monday, we welcomed Mrs. Chen, our student teacher, to Awtrey.  We are so excited to have her! 

Here's what is on the schedule for this week:

Monday:
1.  Students will take notes over the different types of measurement
2.  Students will begin their next assignment: The measurement mind map

Tuesday:
1.  This day is devoted to working on the measurement mind maps.  What students don't finish will be taken home for homework.  The mind map is due on Weds. at the beginning of class.

Wednesday:
1.  Length Lab Day:  students will get practice measuring with a ruler in cm and mm.

Thursday:
1. Mass Lab Day: students will get practive measuring the mass of various objects.

Friday:
1.  Science Introduction Quiz!!
2.  Begin the Volume Lab (will continue on Monday)
