Back to work!

Hopefully everyone is rested after a wonderful Thanksgiving break!  In science, we have started a new chapter over the solar system.  As a gentle reminder, science projects are due on December 21st.

Monday:
1.  Two column notes over the Earth/Sun Centric Models
2.  Compare/Contrast venn diagram/paragraph.  Finish this paragraph for homework

Tuesday:
1.  Diagram notes over the parts of the sun
2.  Graphing the sunspot cycles: Activity

Wednesday:
1.  Project work day!  Bring your research!  White paper will be given out for your brochure.

Thursday:
1.  Inner Planet Notes
2.  Workbook pages 241-248

Friday:
1.  Planet Poems:  Finish/Illustrate for homework.  Due Tuesday.

One more week!!

Only one more week until Thanksgiving break!  Here's what is on the schedule for this week in class...

Monday:
1.  We'll take notes over the features of the moon
2.  Finish the "Robert Goddard" movie/Questions

Tuesday:
1.  We'll take notes over NASA's race to the moon
2.  "Lost on the Moon" Group activity
Homework:  Begin studying for the chapter 19 test

Wednesday:
1.  We'll complete the chapter 19 study guide and check it in class
**Remember to meet in the computer lab on Thursday!**

Thursday:
**Meet in the Dell Computer Lab!!**
1.  Project Work Day...bring any research to class that you have started.  If you haven't started, no worries...we'll research the interned in class.
Homework:  Study for your chapter 19 test TOMORROW

Friday:
1.  Chapter 19 Test
2.  Begin chapter 20 vocabulary words (we'll finish these after the break)

NASA Space Project!

Project Information:
On Monday, students were assigned their second project of the year.  It is a research project on one of the NASA manned spaceflights.  Students can choose from a Project Mercury, Gemini, or Apollo mission.  I have planned on two project workdays in class...one for research, one for putting together their brochure and presentation.  The rest of this project will need to be done at home.  Please look for the direction sheet given to your students.  Please sign and return the bottom and let me know if you have any concerns.  Due date:  December 21

Here's what we are doing this week:

Monday:
1.  Go over directions for the NASA Manned Mission Project
2.  Finish final draft of the seasons writing assessment
3.  Begin workbook pgs. 225-227
Homework:  Get your project sheet signed and returned on Wednesday!

Tuesday:
Student Holiday!!

Wednesday:
1.  Finish workbook pgs. 225-227
2.  Moon Phase Notes
Homework: Look at the moon tonight and figure out what phase it is in

Thursday:
1.  Moon Phase lab

Friday:
1.  Rockets and Satellites Notes
2.  Video on Robert Goddard

Test Thursday!

We are currently finishing up a series of three labs in class.  Not much homework has been assigned.  Here is what we will be doing in class for the rest of this week:

Tuesday:
1.  Check workbook pages on ocean motion and the neritic zone
2.  Ocean Pollution Lab

Wednesday (Early Release):
1.  Finish and check oceanography study guide
2.  Review game if time allows

Thursday:
1.  Oceanography test
2. Classwork/Homework:  Chapter 19 vocabulary terms
3.  Extra Credit Assignment due today

Friday:
1.  Investigative Activity:  Why do we have the seasons?
2.  Notes:  Earth in Motion
