Science Update

I hope everyone is rested after our summer snow days!  I know I am!!  Here's what you need to know to be caught up in science: (FYI:  No "homework" has been assigned this week...BUT... students should be filling out their weather observation charts every night until 10/5)

Thursday:
1.  We checked workbook pages 203-205 (this was not graded)
2.  We worked in groups on "Storms".  Students will have time to finish their sections on Thursday before the presentations start.

Friday:
1.  The first 30 minutes of class will be devoted to finishing visuals.  Then, we will have section presentations and take notes over each one.

Chapter 16 Test tomorrow!!

Here's what you need to know for your test tomorrow:
1.  Types of electromagnetic waves/Types of heat transfer
2.  What causes winds/Local Winds/Global Winds
3.  Steps of the water cycle/Why we need it
4.  Types of clouds/Weather associated with them
5.  Study from: notes, workbook, worksheets, and your study guide

On Friday:
1.  Finish your vocabulary terms - these are homework if not finished in class.  Parents, please sign your childs paper if you do not have access to a dictionary or internet dictionary.

Wednesday's Update

In class, we are working on a RAFT composition.  This will be graded for content, spelling, and punctuation.  Today (Weds.), we will be writing the rough draft in class.  On Thursday, we will be editing and beginning the final copy to be turned in.  Final copies are due on Monday.  Illustrated compositions will be awarded five bonus points

Friday:
This is a project work day! Students are welcome to bring in any articles that need to be summarized.  They will have access to construction paper, scissors, glue, etc.  in order to put together some of their pages in their current events project.  If students come to class without something to work on, they will be given a classwork review assignment to be turned in for a grade.

Review Day

Today we are focusing on reviewing heat transfer and winds.  Workbook pages 194-196 will be completed in class.  This will become a classwork grade.  Students will complete a KWL for homework.

Parents:  Progress reports come out on Friday of this week.  Please be looking for them!
