Suitcase Activity

Today in class students began a suitcase activity.  Each student was to list a minimum of ten items he or she would pack in a suitcase for a trip.  However, the students were not told when they would be leaving, where they were going, how long they would stay, or anything about the accommodations.  Then the students were to write at least one well-developed paragraph explaining why each item was important to pack.  After about ten minutes, the students were then told they could actually only keep one of those items.  Another paragraph was written explaining why the one item was chosen.

The pre-writing and first draft is due at the beginning of class tomorrow.  Students will compose the final draft in class tomorrow.
