NEW UNIT

This week, we have a NEW DOL. Here is a copy of the week's DOL #21:

We started a new unit yesterday.  Our TECHNICAL WRITING unit will expose students to "real world writing".  Students will be required to plan a vacation and complete (8) technical writing assignments.
Students will be given notes on the requirements for each assignment during the next (3) weeks.

Today students made a TECHNICAL WRITING NOTES booklet.  Here, they will take notes on the required assignments.

They also looked at SAMPLE BUSINESS letters so they can start their draft.

HOMEWORK
Write a business letter (request letter) to a travel agent requesting information about a vacation of your choice.  The letter MUST include the # of people traveling, destination, # of nights, accommodation request, and travel arrangements.  Students need to MAKE UP the TRAVEL AGENCY information, but it needs to be in the CORRECT FORMAT.

Family Night this Friday!

April 20-24th CRCT Week

This week students will be taking the CRCT in homeroom.  Students will have an extended homeroom Tuesday, April 21 - Monday, April 27.

Wednesday, 4/22 - Language ARTS
Thursday, 4/23 - MATH
Friday, 4/24 - SCIENCE
Monday, 4/27 - SOCIAL STUDIES

In class, we will be working on CRCT review and working on concepts for the CRCT.  We will begin our NEW UNIT (Technical Writing) this week.

NO HOMEWORK will be given this week!

On Tuesday, we reviewed several concepts for the CRCT.  We reviewed pronouns, interjections, subjects, predicates, semicolons, sentence types.

Classwork assignments for Tuesday:
Workbook pages 7 (ex 1), 8 (ex1), 9 (ex 1,2), 11, (ex 1,2), 43 (Ex 1,2), 49 (ex 1,2), 55 (ex1), 56 (ex 1), 87 (1), 88 (ex1), 159 (ex1,2), 160 (ex1,2).  Most students completed most of the assignment.

We worked on CRCT practice Monday and Wednesday.  Students logged onto the CRCT website and continued to take practice ELA and Reading tests.
