Student Capitalization Lessons

Students are working on CAPITALIZATION rules.  On Wednesday, several students began presenting their lessons.

REMINDER:  Lessons should include:
Capitalization rule
Definition
Examples
Practice for students


CLASS TIME was given on Tuesday and Wednesday and many students are creating POWER POINTS or POSTER visuals to teach their rule.  MANY students have also created short practice assignments that Ms. Bailey is copying for distribution during the lesson.

REMAINING LESSONS should be completed AT HOME. 

Students will be presenting their lessons on Friday, 2/1 and Monday, 2/4.

Check with you child to make sure they have ALL of the components completed.
PROJECT/TEST grade given for execution of lesson.

Capitalization Unit

Today we started a Mini CAPITALIZATION UNIT.

Each student will be assigned a Capitalization rule (some are in groups of 2s and 3s).
The student needs to find the definition for the rule AND examples.
Each student will present (teach) their RULE to the rest of the class.
Each lesson is 5 minutes.
Students MUST have some type VISUAL and PRACTICE designed for students.
Ms. Bailey will make necessary copies of practice.

Quarter 3 UPDATED Grades

Today we passed back (8) graded assignments for Quarter 3.  Student grades are updated and current.  Please check with your child to make sure they are filing their graded work!

NO DOL this week

ALL this week, students are working on an IN CLASS assignment.  We are making a POOF BOOK.  The POOF BOOK includes the rules for using commas and include examples.

Students handed in their COMMA Glossary and they are using it to complete the POOF BOOK.
POOF BOOKS will be due on Friday at the beginning of class.

Happy Friday

Today, we took our first spelling test of the quarter.

Students completed copying notes in their COMMA GLOSSARY.  They copied Rules # 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.

COMMA GLOSSARY due on Tuesday, Jan. 22nd.
Comma glossary should have ALL (12) rules.
Each rule MUST have a NUMBER, TITLE, and DEFINITION.
Each rule MUST have (2) sentences using the rule.

EXAMPLE:
Rule # 7 DATES
Use a comma when a date is made up of two or more parts
Ex:  We traveled to Paris on Monday, October 30, 2007, with Air France.
