Students received a STUDY GUIDE that they worked on for the entire period. It was collected at the end of class and they will be returned so they can continue Thursday and Friday.

THANK YOU and FRIENDLY LETTER.
Students were to write a thank you note to someone thanking them for a gift from their Bon Voyage party, the trip, or something they received in relation to their trip.
Students were to write a friendly letter to someone once they return from their trip. The letter is in friendly letter format (see notes). It cannot be typed OR on loose leaf paper.

2. We went over POSTCARD NOTES (see attached) and discussed assignment.

3. We worked on POSTCARDS. Postcards are a part of the TECHNICAL WRITING project and are due Thursday, May 10th.
FOR THE PROJECT, write 5-7 sentences for your message about the vacation.
Be sure to draw a colorful picture of your attraction/landmark. The FRONT of your card must ALSO include the NAME of the attraction and the COUNTRY NAME.
You MUST also MAKE A STAMP for your postcard.

The FANTASY Get Away Project is well underway, and most students are completing their assignments.
PLEASE remember that the project has (12) assignments that are EACH worth project grades.
EACH assignment has a different due day. PLEASE see the attached PROJECT OUTLINE for the deadlines.

The itemized Party Budget Sheet is due Monday, May 7th. This sheet is for students to plan their Bon Voyage Party and budget their $1,000. This is one of the TECHNICAL WRITING assignments due for the PROJECT
The Research Fantasy Get Away Destination sheet is also due on Monday, May 7th. This is a worksheet that students MUST complete in order to plan their vacation. The sheet has (2) destinations spaces for students to research and compare places and prices.
Monday, May 7th is our 7th GRADE VACATION DAY!
We will be taking the students outside during their Language Arts class. They can bring balls, I-Pods, games, lunch, snacks, and things to do. This will be our celebration for completing the first set of TECHNICAL WRIITNG assignments.
On Tuesday, May 8th & Wednesday, May 9th, students will be working on their POSTCARDS in class. The POSTCARDS are the next TECHNICAL WRITING assignment due. The POSTCARDS must be from a landmark, tourist attractions, or somewhere that is in their destination vacation location. POSTCARDS are due May 10th!
Today we reviewed the format for REQUEST LETTERS.
We also worked on a group activity and wrote sample request letters.
